Observance of World Environment Day 2024
On June 5th, 2024, the NSS Rayburn College Unit, in collaboration with Highland and RWUS, organized a meaningful observance of World Environment Day. This year’s event theme was “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” The day was marked by a series of impactful activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting action towards addressing these pressing environmental issues.
The events include awareness campaigns by volunteers across the college campus and neighboring communities, spreading information about the importance of land restoration, combating desertification, and building resilience against drought, and tree plantation drives involving students, faculty members, and community volunteers. Native trees and shrubs were planted to contribute to land restoration efforts and combat desertification. The event facilitated networking and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and local communities, to develop innovative solutions for land restoration and drought mitigation.
The observance of World Environment Day inspired individuals and communities to take meaningful actions towards achieving land restoration, combating desertification, and building resilience against drought. It served as a platform for collective efforts aimed at safeguarding the environment for current and future generations.
