National Librarians’ Day Observance 2024

Dear Readers’,

On this auspicious day, August 12, 2024, the Library and the IQAC Deptt. are pleased to jointly organize “National Librarians’ Day,” an event that the Rayburn College Library Department is proud to observe and celebrate.

Every year on the 12th of August, the Library and Information Science Department, along with its affiliated institutions nationwide, celebrate this significant day in commemorating the birth anniversary (132nd Anniversary for this year 2024) of Dr. SR Ranganathan (the Father of Library Science in India) in recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of library services and its professions.

And I’m deeply honored and grateful to have had the chance to speak on the topic of the “Role of Library in this Age of IT.” I hope that this presentation will sensitize the academic community to the critical role libraries play in disseminating academic-related information in this age of information technology and AI advancement.

The Library Department would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all those who contribute in making these important events’ a grand success, especially the principal, IQAC Dept. Academic Department, Registrar, the Library Development Committee, mentors of the first semester UG students who grace the program, all the library staff, and Sir Mungpi. Your valuable contribution will enhance the library initiative role in imparting knowledge and education.

Last but not least, thank you to the Lamka Media team for their unwavering dedication to covering this program.
