RAYBURN COLLEGE CELEBRATES 74TH REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA

Today, January 26, 2023, at 6:30 am Rayburn College celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India at its premises at Gangpimual, Lamka, Churachandpur, Manipur. The event was attended by the faculty members (teaching and non-teaching) of Rayburn College.

It was conducted under the auspices of Rayburn College NCC affiliated to 14 Manipur (Bn) NCC Imphal under the leadership of Lt. Suan Hauzel, ANO, NCC unit of Rayburn College.
This solemn occasion programme was hosted by Miss Easter Lalremthieng, an NCC Cadet of the College.

At the beginning of the program, Rev. Dr. Khen P. Tombing, Principal of Rayburn College, unfurled the Indian flag, after which the national anthem was sung.

The Principal and the administrative team of the college inspected the parade contingent, after which the Principal himself took a salute from the parade contingent of the NCC unit of Rayburn College.

In his address to the members present, the Principal stated that….

“My fellow citizens,

On this 74th Republic Day of our beloved India, I stand before you with a heavy heart. I see a nation divided, a nation where hatred and intolerance have replaced love and compassion. I see a country where the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. I see a country where the powerful trample on the rights of the weak.

But I also see a country with great potential. A nation of diverse cultures and religions united by a common love for our motherland. A nation that has the power to lead the world on the path of non-violence and peace.

My dear friends, we must remember that true independence means not only throwing off the yoke of foreign domination, but also the yoke of poverty, inequality and injustice. We must remember that true freedom means not only being able to vote and speak our minds, but also being able to live with dignity and respect.

We must remember and follow the idea of “enshrined” in the Indian Constitution. Secularism has been described by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and others. We should have compassion for ourselves, for our family, for our being and for our great nation in order to create a strong and vibrant nation.

We must remember that true unity is not only living together within the same geographical boundaries, but also living together in the same spirit of love and compassion. My dear friends, let us work together to build a nation that is truly free, truly independent, and truly united. Let us work together to build a nation that is truly just, truly peaceful, and truly prosperous.

Let us work together to build a nation truly worthy of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the dreams of our founding fathers. Jai Hind!” After this point, the host proposed a word of thanks, and the programme ended.
