Rayburn College organises awareness about career in Mathematics.

On September 9, 2022, at 10:00 AM, the Department of Mathematics, Rayburn College, organized career awareness in Mathematics at its College Faculty Lounge. Sir Khaiminthang hosted the program, and Sir Jambiakmuan started the program with a welcome address. This was followed by a speech from the Resource Person, Sir Thangthuam, Surveyor, Survey of India.
Sir Thangthuam, the program’s speaker, emphasized the importance of choosing Mathematics as a career path and demonstrated the importance of studying numbers at university. He elaborated on the field of mathematics career opportunities, which are also reasonably lucrative.
He further exclaims that math students are keen problem solvers, eager to make sense of even the most advanced equations. In this fast-developing world, academic research is a common career path, but so are a business, economics, and banking careers. This wide range of opportunities comes from the universal need for graduates with strong analytical and problem-solving skills which math graduates should have by the bucketload, which gives rise to the importance of studying math. In the current discourse, Mathematical experts are in demand across all kinds of industries worldwide.

He encourages the students to study math so that they’ll have access to career opportunities in sectors they may never have even considered, including specialized fields such as law or medicine. However, many math careers are based within business or science and technology-related sectors, with math graduates occupying roles such as accountant, actuary, statistician, technician, economist, or market researcher; with these insightful messages, Sir Thangthuam concluded his speech.
After a short, interactive session among the program participants, the program was adjourned with words of thanks from Dr. Kh.Thianminlian Vaiphei, Vice Principal of Rayburn College.
